With the weather getting chilly and the transitional time of year, fitness motivation can become increasingly difficult. Here are some of my top tips for staying on top of fall fitness
LAYER UP
As the weather grows cooler, the desire to head outside can be counteracted by the chilly autumnal wind. Layer up before your outdoor session to say motivated. Pair cute vests with zip-up jackets, abandon summer’s shorts for fun printed yoga pants or leggings and grab a loose sweater for the particularly cold days!
HEAD OUTDOORS
Many of the best exercises can be done anywhere, so vary your workouts by ditching the gym once in a while in favor of the outdoors. Take a jog around your local park, explore trails on foot or by bike and take in the changing seasonal landscape. Exercising earlier in the day also helps- with the sun setting earlier, the darker hours may make you more tired and prone to skip a workout. Head out in the morning to take advantage of the daylight hours and give you all afternoon to relax.
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Another way to stay motivated is to track your current progress. This can range from simply recording workouts and personal bests in your calendar or diary, to using one of the hundreds of fitness apps available on your phone- find one to suit you and monitor your fitness development. Also, invest in a FitBit or another type of armband. These little gadgets really hold you accountable!
GRAB A FRIEND
Partnering up with someone who has similar fitness goals can do wonders to motivation and accountability. It’s also a lot less daunting and a lot more fun to work out with a friend. Schedule your workouts in a calendar so neither of you miss a session!
MAKE A PLAYLIST
Music is the ultimate encouragement when it comes to exercise, said to increase your endurance by 15%. Grab your favorite upbeat tunes and group them together for guaranteed positivity and workout success. Rock on!
