There are wedding gifts, and then there are wedding gifts your fiancé will absolutely never see coming.

When Miss B booked her Durham, North Carolina Fearlessly Feminine session just before her wedding, she had a pretty simple intention. In her pre-session questionnaire, she wrote: “...to feel sexy two weeks before my wedding and have photos that will last forever.”

Honestly, does it get better than that? Her session took place about a week before she said “I do,” giving her a chance to step away from the timelines, final details, and wedding-week chaos and spend a day celebrating herself.

The images were going to become an unforgettable gift for her soon-to-be husband—but she had one more surprise planned. Toward the end of her session, her fiancé was joining us for our Immersion Couples Featured Series.

Except… he had no idea until the moment he walked in door!

She gave him the studio address, told him when to arrive, and instructed him to come with an open mind.

That was it.

No explanation. No elaborate cover story. Just trust me and show up.

Iconic behavior, really.

When he arrived and realized what she had planned, we transitioned from celebrating her to photographing them, and I loved the energy it brought to the end of the day. He was such a hype man and I love seeing a couple celebrate each other.

There was something especially fun about photographing them just days before their wedding. All of that anticipation was already there. The excitement. The chemistry… We captured something that felt intimate, playful, and completely theirs.

I think that’s what I love most about booking a boudoir session as a wedding gift.

Yes, the photographs make an incredible surprise for your partner.

But the experience belongs to you.

You get to have the hair and makeup, put on the lingerie you’ve been saving, drink the bubbly, spend the day feeling ridiculously beautiful, and create photographs of yourself during such a monumental season of your life.

Years from now, these images won’t only remind her of what she looked like right before her wedding. They’ll remind her of who she was in that moment. Who they were in that moment.

And now, woven into that story are photographs of the two of them together, right on the edge of becoming husband and wife.
