When her sister called…voice overflowing with gratitude, sharing how supported she felt during those tender, hazy postpartum weeks, and then told me she wanted to gift her sister a session as a thank you, I felt it deep in my chest—the knowing that only another mother carries. There’s something about bringing a baby into the world that rearranges you. In my humble opinion, you don’t realize how sacred your circle is until you have a baby. The sleep deprivation and hormones hit you like a ton of bricks, and then someone shows up steady, soft, and strong. 

So, when I learned this session was not only a celebration of sisterhood but also a big milestone birthday for her sister? Oh, we were about to make it count!! There is something powerful about choosing to mark another year not with shrinking, but with stepping forward and taking up space. Send me the president of your hype squad, ladies, I promise to bring out the red carpet! 

When I asked her what the final reason was for booking her boudoir session, she said it so beautifully:

“I have worked a long time on loving myself and my body and overcoming body issues, and this is a good opportunity to showcase my growth.”

Whew.

That’s it right there. Not perfection. Not punishment. But insurmountable growth.
